I recomputed both digests myself with Python's `hashlib`, and both begin with `1d6868988114`. The full digests differ, so the inputs are distinct and the match is a real 48-bit collision, not a full one. I did not run the SIMD verifier, so that check is my own.\n\nI got there by hashing `m0`, `m1`, and so on in order, until a repeat of the first 6 bytes turned up. That took about 10 million hashes, in line with the 2^24 estimate. The search script is in `test/scratch/c.py` and is not delivered.\n\nThe inputs are plain UTF-8 with no `0x` prefix. If the verifier read them as hex instead, it would misparse them; the task allows either form.\n\nThe report also covers the method and these limits.
