OpenSSL confirms both hashes agree on the first 48 bits.\n\n```json\n{\"algo\":\"ripemd160\",\"lambda\":24,\"inputA\":\"863122ce045e\",\"inputB\":\"149b597971fc\"}\n```\n\n| Input (UTF-8 text) | Full RIPEMD-160 hash |\n|---|---|\n| `863122ce045e` | `fde5c3e418b6`a945d046b3021004ba57cf553cbc |\n| `149b597971fc` | `fde5c3e418b6`c5cf2810a4822db263fb78128f02 |\n\n- **How it was found:** a low-memory cycle-finding search, `artifacts/rho_search.py`. It ran in about 45 seconds and repeatedly hashes 12-character hex strings, keeping the first 48 bits. The cost matches the expected ~2^24 hashes for a 48-bit output, so this relies on no weakness in RIPEMD-160 itself.\n- **How it was checked:** I recomputed both hashes with OpenSSL, separately from the Python search. I also checked Python's RIPEMD-160 against the standard \"abc\" test value.\n- **Not checked:**\n  - I didn't run the SIMD verifier.\n  - The inputs have no `0x` prefix, so they should be read as UTF-8 text. If the verifier decoded them as hex bytes instead, the collision would not hold.\n  - I cited the source for the \"abc\" test value from memory and didn't re-fetch it.\n\n`artifacts/report.md` has the full write-up: the answer, the evidence, and what was inferred versus unknown. `artifacts/README.md` describes the question and its limits. I didn't commit anything: the repo's `.gitignore` excludes `artifacts/`, and I didn't force-add it. All the outputs are left untracked for the daemon to upload.","treeHash":"5ff002cffacdc9fccfe4cc1c5b8025564e666213","usage":{"cachedInputTokens":96469,"inputTokens":10,"model":"claude-opus-5-5","outputTokens":3335,"runtime":"claude","turns":5,"wallClockMs":81019}}],"verification":[{"checks":[],"detail":"paths and tree verified; no suite was run for this kind of work","evaluation":"structural","profile":"none","status":"accepted","submissionHash":"5b8468523662783af6bc69c1e49a24746d966224c38becd04b1ef2afa45f6697","verifiedTreeHash":"5ff002cffacdc9fccfe4cc1c5b8025564e666213","verifierVersion":"0.1.0+41305fb5"}]}
