# Audit report

> PLEA security audit, round 5, area A3: The market: PleaHook. PLEA is a sell-gated meme token on Uniswap v4 paired with IMD: anyone buys, selling needs a plea judged by a 30-seat IdentityMD oracle panel, approved pleas score season points for IMD and PLEA prizes, and every trade pays cashback in staked IMD through imd/acc's Stacker. Solidity 0.8.26, Foundry (cancun, via-IR), a Uniswap v4 hook, IdentityMD Intake v2 callbacks. This is the mainnet code, rehearsed first on Sepolia (launch.json on this commit has the Sepolia settings). Other areas of the same commit are audited by separate jobs; stay on this one.

> READ FIRST, in this repository:
> - audit/THREAT-MODEL.md: actors and trust, the invariants with the agreed numbers (section 2), deliberate behaviour that is NOT a finding (section 3) and the severity scale (section 4). Use that scale.
> - audit/FINDINGS.md: findings already fixed or accepted. Do not re-report them unless the fix is wrong. Check that every fix marked fixed for this area is correct and complete and opens no new path (each names its regression test).
> - README.md (the design and every number), OBJECTIONS.md (Objection!: its Known limits and Decisions are accepted behaviour).
> - Build: forge build --skip test --skip script first (under a minute), then forge test --match-path 'test/{File1,File2}.t.sol' one group at a time (FOUNDRY_PROFILE=full for the invariant, adversarial and fork suites). Never one forge build of the whole tree: one slow via-IR solc job, over a 10-minute limit. CabalGate is 778 bytes and PleaHook 218 bytes under the EIP-170 limit.

> Context: PleaHook is a fork of POOL4's CappedBurnHook (Ethereum 0xc6c965bd164c483e87d0b550671798e9a3602840) on the IMD side: IMD as the quote asset, LP fee 0, the hook is the only liquidity provider and its liquidity is locked forever, trims burn 100% of the PLEA and the recovered IMD becomes an IMD-only buy wall below the price. Every trade pays 2.0% inside the swap: 0.5% cashback as staked IMD through imd/acc's Stacker (gas budget creditGas + a 1M reserve, plain IMD if the credit reverts), 0.75% to the owner, 0.25% to the season pot (pool liquidity once the Cabal is dead), 0.25% to pool liquidity, 0.25% of the PLEA leg burned. It keeps hourly price checkpoints for the gate (the price an hour's first trade found), each trader's cost basis and hold time, a 90-minute launch window (extra fee 70% to 0%, 5M PLEA per buy), the inventory cap ratchet (only down, at most (seeded - 900k) / 15 a day, never below the holdings or 900k) with trims, the wall placement guard (rises at most 400 ticks a day, drops at once), and the trader rule (hookData, else the router's msgSender(), else a plain-wallet sender; never a router, tx.origin, the Stacker, IMD, sIMD, the PoolManager or the hook).
> Since round 4: no PleaHook change; check where run 8 meets it: basisOf (spent includes every fee) and the checkpoints feed the new fact table; the Letterbox's delivery floor assumes sale fees of 0.25% PLEA + 1.75% IMD.
> Look hardest at:
> - v4 accounting: beforeSwap / afterSwap return deltas for exact-in and exact-out in both currency orderings, the fee on the actually filled amount, partial fills and refunds of unearned specified-side fees, ERC-6909 claims (retainClaims, cashback as claims, the first buy into an empty PoolManager), PayoutsToPool, nothing stuck in the hook beyond the wall reserve.
> - The fee split: the sum of the floor-divided shares never exceeds the IMD fee; the owner's 0.75%, the prize share routed to pool liquidity after the death, the burn taken from the PLEA side; what an outside router or a direct PoolManager unlock can do to any of it.
> - Cashback and the trader rule: a router that lies in hookData or msgSender(), dirty upper bits, the excluded recipients, the Stacker allowance per credit (never the wall reserve), the NotEnoughGas check and the 63/64 rule around the credit, the plain-IMD fallback, RecipientRequired while the Cabal lives.
> - The cap ratchet and trims: can the cap rise, fall faster than the daily allowance, fall below the holdings or the 900k floor; can a trim burn more than the excess or move the wrong IMD; the lastCapDecayAt / capDecayRemainder bookkeeping across long gaps; MIN_TRIM.
> - The wall: placement only below the guard price, the guard's 400-tick daily rise and instant drop, a sell that drains the pool's IMD after the death (the liquidity-free region), rebalance's reverts, WALL_THRESHOLD / WALL_MIN_FILL, settling a filled wall, fundWall from Seasons, wall IMD never leaving the pool.
> - Checkpoints and basis: the hour's first trade recording the price it found (T_PRICE_BEFORE), latestPrice / priceX96 views, basisOf after partial fills, sells and escrowed letters; the gate's executeSell path (gated sells only through the gate while alive, exact-output refused).
> - The launch window: the extra fee's linear decay, the 5M cap, seed once at MARKET_CAP_IMD (5,700 on Sepolia, 14,000 on the mainnet branch), the single-sided position, pleaIsZero in both orderings.

| Findings | 2 info |

Four agents audited the code as it is at `9b89d98`, each in one area (math, permissions, economics, control flow),
and a judge reproduced, merged and ranked what they found, then read the code once more itself. Nothing in the repository was changed or deployed.

## Findings

### 1. Info: A buy may name the PLEA token contract itself as the trader: the bought PLEA and the sIMD cashback are parked in the token forever (a sink THREAT-MODEL section 3 does not list)

`src/PleaHook.sol:692`

```
            t == address(0) || t == address(stacker) || t == address(imd) || t == simd || t == address(this)
                || t == address(poolManager)
```

_validTrader excludes the Stacker, IMD, sIMD, the hook and the PoolManager, but not the PLEA token contract. A buy whose hookData is abi.encode(address(plea)) resolves the token as the trader: afterSwap takes the whole PLEA output to address(plea) (PLEA._update lets it through: the PoolManager is an exempt sender and the token is not a guarded destination), the buy record is written under basisOf[plea], and the 0.5% cashback is credited as sIMD to the token contract. PLEA has no sweep, so both stay there. Only the buyer loses, so this is the same class as THREAT-MODEL section 3 'Sinks' (the Letterbox, Seasons, the Tribunal, the distributor), but the list does not name the token itself. No invariant breaks (invariants 19-22 checked: totalSupply unchanged, the fee split and the cap ratchet treat it like any buy). Merged from the permissions specialist's finding; reproduced on this commit. Fix, if wanted: add `|| t == plea` to _validTrader (about 20 bytes; the hook has 218 bytes of room) or list the token under 'Sinks'.

**Reproduction**

Default fixture (Sepolia settings, 91 minutes after seed), after one ordinary 100 IMD buy by bob that closes the opening exception. alice calls router.buyExactIn(100e18, abi.encode(address(plea))). Expected under the trader rule's intent: RecipientRequired, or the PLEA delivered to a wallet. Actual (test/scratch/JudgeProbe.t.sol test_buyNamingThePleaTokenParksPleaInTheToken, run on this commit): the swap succeeds, plea.balanceOf(address(plea)) rises by 16,109,731 PLEA, simd.balanceOf(address(plea)) is 0.4914 sIMD, hook.basisOf(address(plea)) = (100e18 spent, 16,109,731e18 held); nothing can move either again.

### 2. Info: beforeSwap narrows the reserved fee to int128 with an unchecked cast; a request whose fee is 2^127 or more wraps the hook's delta (every such swap still reverts, so no impact)

`src/PleaHook.sol:473`

```
        return (IHooks.beforeSwap.selector, toBeforeSwapDelta(int128(int256(fee)), 0), 0);
```

fee is a uint256 share of params.amountSpecified; int128(int256(fee)) keeps the low 128 bits. For |amountSpecified| around 2^133 (fee in [2^127, 2^128)) the hook's specified delta turns negative while the tstore'd specFee keeps the full value, so afterSwap computes a refund of about 2^127 against a small fill. Outcomes traced and reproduced: fee in [2^127, 2^127 + specDue): the refund mint succeeds and the hook's IMD delta ends at exactly -2^128, which nobody can settle, so the unlock reverts CurrencyNotSettled; larger fees revert earlier in the PoolManager's SafeCast. No value moves and nothing is stuck; the only cost is an incidental rather than explicit revert, for amounts many orders of magnitude above the IMD supply. Merged from the permissions specialist's finding; reproduced on this commit. Defensive fix: SafeCast.toInt128(fee) (v4-core already vendors SafeCast) or a `fee > uint128(type(int128).max)` guard.

**Reproduction**

Default fixture (PLEA is currency0, 91 minutes after seed). A router unlocks and calls swap with zeroForOne = false (a buy, IMD in), amountSpecified = -((2^127 * 10175) / 175 + 1000) so the reserved fee is 2^127 + 17, sqrtPriceLimitX96 = spot * 1001 / 1000 (a small fill), hookData = abi.encode(alice), and settles nothing. Expected: an explicit revert on the oversized request. Actual (test/scratch/JudgeProbe.t.sol test_hugeFeeRequestReverts, run on this commit): the unlock reverts with CurrencyNotSettled() (0x5212cba1); alice holds no PLEA and no ERC-6909 IMD claims afterwards.
