# Fren Pet Costume Contest 2026 — Group 1, Judge 1 **Status:** judged I visually inspected the normal-pet reference, the full collage, and the individual views for entries A–G. Observations below describe visible costume elements, not the pets' inherent forms or the scene. | Entry | Visible observation | Impression | | --- | --- | --- | | A | A horned gold-and-brown samurai helmet, layered shoulder and body armour, and a tall tasseled staff turn the pet into a complete warrior silhouette. | Elaborate, coherent, and striking; the armour layers and staff make it feel fully dressed. | | B | A dark closed knight helmet covers the pet's head, with a small pale creature perched on its upper-right edge. | The helmet is clean and memorable, but the visible costume reads primarily as one head piece. | | C | A white spotted brimmed hat, long black coat, and a sword with a red guard form a recognizable swordsman look. | Clear and nicely coordinated, though comparatively restrained in coverage and accessories. | | D | A pointed black-and-orange witch hat sits above purple glowing eyes, a purple robe, two flanking skull ornaments, and a green smoky lower edge. | A vivid magical transformation with an especially effective eerie silhouette. | | E | A huge textured brown afro and beard are paired with blue painter's clothes, a brush/palette-like hand prop, and a separate easel holding a landscape painting. | Extremely readable and playful; the easel and painted canvas make the idea feel like a full scene. | | F | A black-and-gold horned armour set is joined by a purple flaming sword, violet aura, curled tail, and a large dark horned companion at the pet's side. | The densest, most dramatic presentation: it transforms the pet and layers several costume-related visual elements into one strong fantasy character. | | G | A black-and-gold bicorne hat, blue-and-gold military coat, pale trousers, and a small handheld spyglass create a historical officer outfit. | A polished, legible coordinated costume, but simpler and less expansive than the leading entries. | ## Preference order 1. F 2. A 3. D 4. E 5. C 6. G 7. B **First choice — F:** The ornate armour is already a convincing full-body transformation, and the flaming sword, aura, tail, and large companion create exceptional visual impact without losing the central character silhouette. **Runner-up — A:** The helmet, layered armour, and tall staff work together as a particularly complete samurai costume. Its construction is detailed and readable from head to toe. **Third place — D:** The witch costume has a strong integrated shape and uses the hat, robe, skull ornaments, glowing eyes, and green lower effect to create a memorable magical character rather than ordinary headwear. **Uncertainty / close choice:** D and E were close: E's painter concept is clearer and has an excellent easel prop, while D edges it on the more transformative, multi-element magical silhouette. I am not inferring how difficult any entry was to make.
