**SIMD-CHAT — Technical improvement plan for Pulse intraday and swing trading**

Research date: **13 October 2026 (UTC)**. Repository reviewed: [identity-md-launches/launch-1418-simd-chat-analyze-existing-intraday-swin](https://github.com/identity-md-launches/launch-1418-simd-chat-analyze-existing-intraday-swin), pinned to [commit `c4d55d24255bf75a693339dc697195e93c040ca5`](https://github.com/identity-md-launches/launch-1418-simd-chat-analyze-existing-intraday-swin/tree/c4d55d24255bf75a693339dc697195e93c040ca5), committed 12 October 2026 at 14:18:36 UTC.

**Recommendation.** Preserve the existing React/TypeScript interface, deterministic research engine, Web Worker, and optional Python service. Prioritize a consistent market-data and strategy contract, realistic replay, and a position-aware paper account before adding more indicators or automated execution. Use Jev for bounded interpretation of text and optional decision filtering, with deterministic code responsible for timestamps, arithmetic, sizing, and order control. Improvements to profitability or signal accuracy remain hypotheses until measured on unseen data after trading costs.

**Scope and evidence.** This is an implementation plan, not an implemented trading upgrade. “Observed” means inspected at the pinned source revision or reproduced in the local checks described below. “Inference” identifies a consequence of that evidence. “Proposal” identifies new design work. All numerical budgets, parameter grids, and acceptance thresholds below are proposed engineering starting points unless explicitly attributed to documentation. They are not measured app performance or recommended personal trading allocations.

The local assignment workspace initially contained no app source. The repository was retrieved read-only through GitHub API and commit-pinned raw files into disposable review storage. Its description refers to an earlier repository, but this assessment uses the supplied repository's current code; it does not treat that earlier description as a new task. Public documentation was checked on the research date. No exchange account, paid sentiment provider, Jev API credential, live execution session, or representative historical trading dataset was supplied or used. Missing account settings do not prevent this report; future integrations should expose them as owner configuration.

**What the app already does, and where to improve it.**

| Area | Observed evidence | Implication and actionable change |
|---|---|---|
| Interface and stack | React 19, TypeScript, Vite; a separate Python service with FastAPI, HTTPX, CCXT, SQLite and optional TypeSafe SDK. [Frontend dependencies][R1], [service dependencies][R2] | Retain these components. Extract shared contracts and pure strategy functions instead of rewriting the UI or introducing a distributed platform. |
| Live market feed | `KrakenMarketStream` subscribes to ticker and five-minute OHLC, hydrates REST history, batches publication every 250 ms, detects stale data, retries with jitter, and rejects obsolete callbacks. [Transport][R3] | WebSockets already exist. Add executable bid/ask data, explicit gap/finality handling, and strategy updates independent of React rendering. |
| Signal rules | Entry uses sentiment threshold plus an RSI ceiling; sentiment drives an exit signal. Missing enabled sources hold the signal. MACD and VWAP are calculated but do not drive this rule. [Signal evaluation][R4] | Introduce an explicit technical-only strategy and keep the current sentiment strategy as a separate baseline. A chart overlay must not imply a signal uses that indicator. |
| Adaptive indicators | Normalized Wilder ATR drives bounded EMA and RSI periods against a prior rolling baseline. Increased volatility lengthens smoothing. [Analytics][R5] | Preserve causality; test whether extra smoothing reduces noise or merely delays entries. Add hysteresis and compare with fixed-period baselines. |
| Timeframes | Chart aggregation follows the chart interval; signal freshness and feed intervals assume five-minute bars. Aggregation does not require a complete higher-timeframe bucket. [Chart][R6], [aggregation][R7] | Add a strategy timeframe independent of chart zoom. Mark partial chart candles and exclude them from strategy features. |
| Research | A worker runs long-only simulations with next-open entries, fees, slippage, protective stops, and end liquidation. [Worker][R8], [simulator][R9] | Build on this foundation. Add available-at timestamps, recorded decisions, better fills, and a portfolio ledger. |
| “Calibration” | A 70/30 split ranks up to nine threshold/stop candidates on training return minus drawdown; three trades is the eligibility threshold. [Selection code][R10] | Rename this feature “parameter search.” Add walk-forward validation and separate probability calibration. Three trades cannot establish stable trading performance. |
| Paper risk | Equity is entered manually; sizing and protection use that snapshot. The journal is not an account ledger. Risk ATR uses an arithmetic mean while analytics use Wilder smoothing. [Risk code][R11], [paper submission][R12] | Unify ATR, reserve cash and risk for outstanding exposure, and mark equity from positions. Keep manual calculator mode clearly separate. |
| Sentiment history | SQLite saves a composite only when all three sources are ready, using fixed 45/35/20 weights; export attaches it as of a candle close. [Store][R13] | A custom-weight live strategy cannot be faithfully reconstructed from this single composite. Store separate source observations and their availability times. |
| Jev integration | The social adapter optionally calls Jev, maps a five-level score onto 0–100, and falls back to keywords. It does not retain the full distribution or explicitly select a model in the call. [Social adapter][R14] | Record model, rubric, probabilities, confidence, cost and fallback mode. Never label a sentiment score as a win probability. |
| Execution | The supplied Python runner rejects non-dry-run configurations and computes fixed RSI. [Execution template][R15] | Actual execution speed is unmeasured because this runner submits no orders. Reuse one strategy engine before introducing live trading. |

Local synthetic probes confirmed that two five-minute bars produce a nominal fifteen-minute aggregate, a missing interval is accepted by CSV parsing, and an ATR shock fixture yields Wilder ATR **2.4808836353** versus risk-calculator ATR **2.0**. These are reproducible semantic differences, not evidence of live losses. Repeated sizing against the same account snapshot also returns the same allowance; the caller needs a reservation ledger before interpreting that allowance as portfolio protection.

**A modular architecture that fits the existing stack.** The following is a proposal. Begin with one market venue and a small watchlist. Preserve static/demo use and browser-based research. Extend the existing Python service into a persistent collector when continuous history is needed. Keep the authoritative strategy/replay logic in pure TypeScript, imported by the browser worker and a local Node replay command. Add an always-on Node order runner only if unattended execution becomes a requirement; it imports the same strategy and risk modules. Python supplies observations and Jev judgments, rather than independently reimplementing the trading rules.

Suggested module boundaries are `core/contracts`, `core/indicators`, `core/strategy`, `core/risk`, `research/replay`, `adapters/kraken`, and `service/sentiment`. These are proposed paths in the app repository, not directories claimed to exist today. `core` should contain no React, HTTP or credential access. The UI renders decisions containing reason codes, data age, strategy version and source coverage. Transport adapters normalize venue formats; strategy code consumes only normalized events. Keep the present data-validation and cancellation protections during extraction.

Use SQLite for observations, decisions and a modest paper ledger; keep large immutable research exports in compressed files. A single writer with short transactions is sufficient for an initial personal workspace. WAL can permit concurrent readers and a writer, but SQLite still allows only one writer at a time and WAL requires same-host storage. Benchmark ingestion and backups before enabling it; it is not a substitute for a correct transaction model. [SQLite WAL documentation](https://www.sqlite.org/wal.html)

**Low-latency real-time integration using the Jev stack.** “Jev stack” here means Pulse's existing Python/TypeSafe sentiment components, whose notices identify a Jev-X lineage, plus its existing TypeScript market/research layer. This interpretation is supported by [Pulse's provenance notice][R16] and [Jev-X's own project description](https://github.com/brainstormity/Jev-X-Sentiment-Analysis). It does not imply Jev supplies an exchange feed. TypeSafe documents Jev as an API that evaluates state against typed questions and returns structured answers. [TypeSafe introduction](https://docs.typesafe.ai/introduction)

1. **Separate market events from presentation updates.** Preserve four UI updates per second if that keeps the interface responsive. Deliver validated market events to the feature/risk path immediately. Recompute closed-bar indicators only when a bar revision changes, not whenever a heartbeat or React state update occurs. Start with memoization and incremental EMA/ATR state; introduce ring buffers only after profiling. The current app invokes evaluation during rendering and the transport reconstructs published candle arrays. This suggests avoidable work, but its CPU cost has not been benchmarked. [Render evaluation][R17], [stream publication][R18]
2. **Record event identity and time semantics.** Use `venue`, `instrument`, `interval`, `barOpenTime`, `exchangeTime` where supplied, local `receivedAt`, `availableAt`, connection generation and schema version. Use monotonic time for process durations and UTC wall-clock time for persistence. Do not treat the OHLC interval start as a network timestamp. Finalize bars using a documented closure rule, track late revisions, and retain the originally available version for replay. A watermark/grace period is a strategy assumption that must be replayed, not hidden preprocessing.
3. **Improve quote quality before speeding up order submission.** Kraken's ticker supports `event_trigger: "bbo"`, publishes best bid/ask and sizes, and also supports trade-triggered updates. Use BBO changes to evaluate spread and an executable-price estimate; preserve trade prices separately. A fresh BBO timestamp must not make an old last-trade price fresh. [Kraken ticker specification](https://docs.kraken.com/exchange/api-reference/spot-websocket-v2/ticker)
4. **Recover data, not just connections.** After reconnect, invalidate entry readiness, load available history, merge buffered observations deterministically, check continuity, then warm features. Distinguish a verified no-trade interval from unknown data loss. Do not interpolate an outage into tradable liquidity. Kraken OHLC updates are trade-driven and `interval_begin` identifies the interval. [Kraken OHLC specification](https://docs.kraken.com/exchange/api-reference/spot-websocket-v2/ohlc)
5. **Make readiness explicit.** Suggested entry state machine: `DISCONNECTED → SYNCING → WARMING → READY`; a stale quote, unresolved gap, venue suspension or invalid observation returns to a held state. Handle venue status explicitly—the current transport records a status message as transport activity. A heartbeat proves connection activity, not quote freshness. Exit/risk handling has a separate path so a sentiment outage cannot disable protective actions. [Current status handling][R19]
6. **Avoid unnecessary order-book complexity.** Begin with BBO and OHLC. Add depth only if measured fill error or an explicitly tested liquidity rule requires it. Kraken L2 includes a CRC32 checksum over its top ten levels; implement the venue's checksum/resynchronization contract before using a local book for execution. Do not invent sequence numbers for channels that do not provide them. [Kraken book specification](https://docs.kraken.com/exchange/api-reference/spot-websocket-v2/book)

Example subscription change, following the documented schema; this requires extending the parser to retain bid/ask fields:

```json
{
  "method": "subscribe",
  "params": {
    "channel": "ticker",
    "symbol": ["BTC/USD"],
    "event_trigger": "bbo",
    "snapshot": true
  },
  "req_id": 1
}
```

The backend currently waits for market and source tasks together, with an 18-second outer timeout; social scoring permits a 12-second Jev wait. News, social and on-chain work can therefore delay the optional service snapshot, although the independent browser WebSocket can continue updating prices. [Snapshot endpoint][R20], [provider implementation][R14] Split source refresh from market collection. Reuse HTTP/CCXT clients across cycles, use one in-flight refresh per source/asset, cache unchanged inputs, and return the most recent source result with its true availability metadata. A background collector should outlive a hidden or closed browser tab.

Jev should first run off the market-critical path on a new, deduplicated batch of text. Ask narrow questions such as asset relevance or negative/neutral/positive sentiment. Calculate returns, ATR, spread, dates and position sizes in code. The provider itself documents weaknesses involving arithmetic, date comparisons, numeric interpretation and adversarial state; a typed response does not remove those limitations. [Jev 1.13 known limitations](https://docs.typesafe.ai/model-jaggedness/jev-1.13)

This illustrative HTTPX adapter fits the existing Python service. It shows the documented API shape and defensive validation; it has been syntax-checked, **not called against Jev**. The caller supplies the real credential and a pooled client. A production adapter also needs response-size limits, metrics, a circuit breaker, and a persisted rubric hash. An outer consumer must reject results that become stale after this function returns.

async def classify_news(client, api_key, state, deadline_mono):

```
The endpoint, `Choice` request structure, response distribution and usage fields follow [TypeSafe's API reference](https://docs.typesafe.ai/api). Pin an evaluated model version rather than silently following `jev-latest`; retain the returned model ID. Aliases can move according to the [model documentation](https://docs.typesafe.ai/models). Set a bounded refresh deadline, for example one second initially, and tune it from observed completion rates. An expired classification is unavailable; do not retry stale decisions into the fast path. Retry eligible background refreshes with backoff and a total budget. In sentiment-required mode, unavailable classification holds new entries; in a separately validated technical-only mode, missing sentiment has no effect. Never switch strategy semantics silently during a provider failure.
**Latency targets and measurements.** These proposed targets concern liquid markets on specified test hardware; no latency SLA was established in this review.
| Metric | Initial objective | Measurement and interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Validated closed-bar event → deterministic decision | p95 below 25 ms for four instruments | Monotonic spans around parsing, feature updates and policy; exclude the separately reported bar-finalization wait. |
| Event receipt → visible UI update | p95 below 350 ms | Includes the existing 250 ms batching budget and rendering; measure foreground and throttled tabs separately. |
| Market freshness | Configure per venue and strategy; test a 2-second quote-age guard for liquid intraday execution | This is stricter than the existing 60-second market guard. Measure false holds before adoption; a quiet market can be healthy yet unfit for a time-sensitive entry. |
| Jev classification | Deadline-bounded, cached outside the entry path | Log p50/p95/p99, timeout fraction, data age and model/version; do not equate advertised inference latency with total strategy latency. |
| Order intent → acknowledgment → fill | Establish a baseline in paper/shadow operation first | Report three separate timestamps, rejection rates and partial fills. An acknowledgment is not a fill. |
The current `latencyMs` is local receipt time minus exchange timestamp; the code correctly notes clock skew. Preserve this distinction and add process-duration measurements. [Transport state definition][R21] Never report that difference alone as network round-trip time. An initial load check should replay a captured burst at ten times its observed rate; record queue depth, dropped/coalesced quote counts and invariant failures. Price-display updates may be coalesced; fills, order-state transitions and bar corrections must not disappear silently.
**Adaptive indicators and calibration.**
Keep a small feature set with independent roles: trend (EMA slope normalized by ATR), momentum (RSI), volatility (ATR/price), participation (volume relative to a causal baseline), and execution quality (spread). Add MACD or VWAP only when an ablation shows incremental value. Current VWAP is a UTC-day, typical-price-times-volume approximation; make its anchor and approximation explicit. [VWAP implementation][R22] For swing trading, evaluate a separately defined weekly/event anchor or omit VWAP, rather than presenting a daily reset as a universal signal.
The existing volatility ratio is approximately `v = (ATR14 / close) / mean(previous normalized ATR observations)`, clamped to `[0.5, 2.5]`; periods are bounded. [Adaptive formulas][R5] **Proposal:** retain this as baseline A, compare fixed indicators as baseline B, then test one modified adaptation C. For C, smooth the ratio and require several completed bars before changing a regime; use different enter/leave boundaries to suppress oscillation. Learn any percentile boundaries on training data only. Do not assume that higher volatility always warrants slower smoothing: it can suppress noise and miss a fast breakout.
Use one Wilder ATR implementation for analytics, stops and replay, and state the initialization convention. Verify incremental calculations against the existing batch result within a documented floating-point tolerance. Warm up the full volatility baseline before labeling a regime mature; early ATR-valid bars need not be full-baseline-ready. Preserve sufficient prehistory across walk-forward boundaries while excluding warmup returns from scored performance.
Separate three tasks in the interface:
| Task | Meaning | Appropriate output |
|---|---|---|
| Indicator adaptation | A causal change in smoothing or bands | Period, regime, warmup state, feature version |
| Strategy parameter selection | Choosing among predefined rules using past data | Candidate table, validation result, untouched final test |
| Probability calibration | Comparing predicted event probabilities with subsequent event frequencies | Reliability bins, counts, Brier/log loss and uncertainty |
Jev's `confidence` summarizes the concentration of its answer distribution; it is not an independent estimate of trade profitability. [TypeSafe confidence documentation](https://docs.typesafe.ai/confidence) Likewise, a 0–100 sentiment index is not a percentage chance of a winning trade. If Pulse needs a profit probability, define a distinct labeled task and collect evidence for that task. For example, an intraday label could be whether a next-eligible-price long trade has a positive **net** return after twelve five-minute bars; a swing label might use twelve four-hour bars. Fix fees, fill timing and horizon before labeling. If the deployed strategy exits with stops/targets, use that actual exit policy for its outcome model rather than assuming fixed-horizon calibration transfers.
Start with a small logistic model over causal features, or a regularized mapping from an existing score, as a transparent baseline. Fit a sigmoid calibrator on a later, disjoint calibration period; consider isotonic calibration only with sufficient observations and validation. Report reliability diagrams and sample counts alongside Brier score and log loss. Those aggregate losses reflect both calibration and discrimination, so a lower Brier score alone does not prove better calibration. These definitions and fitting cautions follow [scikit-learn's calibration guide](https://scikit-learn.org/stable/modules/calibration.html).
Use separate intraday and swing evaluation cohorts. Pool instruments only with an explicit shared model, group diagnostics, and enough observations; otherwise display “insufficient evidence.” Measure precision at the selected entry threshold, opportunities accepted, turnover, net expectancy and drawdown. A model that improves nominal accuracy by rejecting nearly every trade may offer little practical value. Avoid Kelly sizing from unvalidated model outputs. Monitor score distribution, source coverage and recent outcome calibration; revert to a previously validated configuration when drift criteria trip. Recalibrate on a scheduled review, not continuously against the same test window.
**Robust local backtesting.**
The immediate constraint is historical depth and provenance. Kraken REST returns at most 720 recent OHLC entries, including its current unfinished interval, and cannot supply older bars through an arbitrary `since`. At five minutes this is roughly 60 hours, slightly less in completed-bar coverage. [Kraken REST OHLC](https://docs.kraken.com/api-reference/market-data/get-ohlc-data) It is insufficient for a credible swing evaluation. The app's 25,000-bar import limit represents about 86.8 days at five minutes. Its bundled 2,016-bar history is generated synthetic data. [CSV limit][R23], [demo generator][R24] Neither increasing a UI date range nor repeatedly requesting the capped endpoint creates missing history.
1. **Create an immutable dataset manifest.** Store venue, base/quote currency, spot/perpetual type, timeframe, UTC convention, source URL, retrieval time, file SHA-256, row count, coverage, gaps and corrections. Import historical data from the intended execution venue where possible. Kraken supplies downloadable OHLCVT archives; its archive documentation explicitly says omitted intervals can represent no trades. [Kraken historical downloads](https://support.kraken.com/articles/360047124832-downloadable-historical-ohlcvt-open-high-low-close-volume-trades-data) Archive coverage and availability must be checked for the chosen instruments; no archive was downloaded or performance backtest run here.
2. **Record knowledge time as well as event time.** Persist source components as `(asset, source, publishedAt, firstSeenAt, evaluatedAt, availableAt, expiresAt, score, methodologyVersion)`. At decision time `t`, use only versions with `availableAt <= t` and sufficient freshness. Do not retrospectively score old headlines with today's model and call that a contemporaneous live decision. Such retrospective research needs its own label; a pretrained model may also contain knowledge of later events. Forward shadow collection is the strongest check for that limitation.
3. **Support price-only research explicitly.** Existing rules require sentiment observations to enter. Exporting market candles with blank sentiment therefore cannot validate that strategy. Add a separately named technical strategy, and preserve nulls for unavailable sentiment. Do not fill them with 50, zero or a fabricated Jev probability. Save source-level history so a user's live weights and missing-source policy can be replayed.
4. **Make bar completeness and availability enforceable.** Require aligned intervals, identify missing intervals, and resample only complete eligible buckets for signals. Chart provisional buckets may remain visible with labels. A proposed helper is delivered in `examples/research_core.py`; it rejects malformed bars and omits incomplete buckets. Availability must be enforced before calling it, since OHLCV values alone cannot prove when they became known.
5. **Use the same rules in replay and runtime.** Feed the shared strategy a stream of normalized events and a deterministic clock. Decisions should depend on explicit state and configuration, not browser time or network access. Store Jev outputs for replay; do not make network calls from a local backtest. Retain model/rubric/config hashes and random seeds for stochastic fill scenarios. A replay run must remain fully usable with networking disabled.
6. **Model executable timing.** Preserve next-open simulation as a baseline, but name its zero-compute-delay assumption. A decision calculated after a close is not guaranteed the exact next opening trade. Add configurable observation/computation delays, spread, adverse slippage and fee tiers. With tick/BBO records, fill no earlier than decision availability. With bars only, use a documented conservative next-eligible-bar approximation and expose the uncertainty.
7. **Extend the fill model carefully.** Keep stop-first treatment when OHLC touches both levels. Add missed fills, volume participation caps, partial fills and cancel/reject events before promising limit-order execution. A price touching a limit does not establish queue priority. Separate a take-profit limit fill from a market-on-trigger exit; current favorable-open target treatment needs an explicit execution-policy label. [Current exit rules][R25] Estimate slippage by spread, size and volatility when recorded data allow it; otherwise publish pessimistic sensitivity bands.
8. **Match the supported instrument.** Retain long-only unlevered spot first. A “Sell” exit must reduce holdings rather than create an unsupported short. Add funding, borrow fees, margin and liquidation only if perpetual/short trading becomes an explicit requirement. Do not compare Kraken USD research directly with USDT execution without conversion and venue-basis treatment.
9. **Improve statistical validation.** Use expanding or rolling chronological windows. Within each fold: select rules on training data, calibrate on a later disjoint segment, freeze both, then score a later test segment. Purge training labels whose outcome windows reach the next segment. For variable holding periods, purge by actual label end time rather than merely guessing a fixed gap. `TimeSeriesSplit` supports a gap, but is not by itself a complete event-label purging solution. [TimeSeriesSplit documentation](https://scikit-learn.org/stable/modules/generated/sklearn.model_selection.TimeSeriesSplit.html)
10. **Keep a final untouched holdout and record every experiment.** Predeclare a small grid, avoid repeatedly selecting against the final period, and show the spread of results across folds/instruments/regimes. Use date blocks for bootstrap intervals so serially dependent observations are not treated as independent trades. Compare against cash, a cost-adjusted buy-and-hold baseline, and the unchanged strategy under identical costs. Publish net expectancy, drawdown, time underwater, trade count, turnover, exposure, rejected signals and fee/slippage attribution. Do not annualize a short synthetic run into a performance claim.
Illustrative research windows, conditional on obtaining enough history: intraday training/calibration/test of 180/30/30 days, rolled monthly; swing 24/6/6 months, rolled every six months. These are experimental starting points, not claims that the repository contains those datasets. Use sample sufficiency, regime coverage and label overlap to decide whether a run is informative. Six months of nearly identical market conditions is not automatically a diverse test.
Preserve the current worker cancellation and obsolete-result checks. [Backtest view][R26] For larger data, load partitioned batches and transfer typed arrays instead of copying many objects repeatedly. Cache feature series by dataset hash and feature configuration during parameter sweeps. A local CLI importing the TypeScript engine can run larger jobs without increasing the UI import cap. Keep browser/CLI parity fixtures and a reproducible run manifest before adding parallel sweep workers.
**Simplified but effective risk management.**
Offer three user-facing controls: maximum loss budget per trade, maximum total open risk, and daily loss limit; keep a drawdown kill switch in the account profile. Use a single stop method initially—fixed or ATR—and add trailing behavior only after its live/replay semantics match. Paper-trading settings can start conservatively for experiments, but live account amounts and limits must be supplied by the owner. This report supplies no assumed owner balance or exchange credentials.
The crucial change is a ledger: `cash`, reserved cash, positions, pending orders, realized P&L, marked unrealized P&L, fees, equity peak and UTC-day baseline. Reconcile state on startup and after any unknown order outcome. Reserve risk and cash in the same transaction that records an order intent, release only on confirmed cancellation or fill reconciliation, and adjust reservations after partial fills. Cap combined crypto exposure with a simple aggregate notional and open-risk budget before attempting unstable short-window correlation estimates.
For a spot long, use a cost-inclusive sizing rule:
```text
risk_room = min(equity × risk_fraction,
                daily_loss_room_after_existing_exposure,
                remaining_portfolio_risk_budget)
stop_fill_estimate = stop × (1 − exit_slippage_fraction)
loss_per_unit = entry − stop_fill_estimate
                + fee_fraction × (entry + stop_fill_estimate)
raw_quantity = min(risk_room / loss_per_unit,
                   free_cash / (entry × (1 + fee_fraction)),
                   maximum_position_notional / entry)
quantity = floor(raw_quantity / venue_quantity_step) × venue_quantity_step

`entry` must include the estimated executable buy price, not an arbitrary last print. Apply actual venue minimum quantity/notional and price ticks; reject nonfinite values, exhausted budgets and invalid stops. Do not round a below-minimum order upward. This is a modeled loss budget: a gap beyond the stop can exceed it. The delivered Decimal-based `size_spot_long` example implements this formula and has offline tests for costs, cash caps, rounding and invalid inputs. It does not reserve funds or execute orders; those are ledger responsibilities.

```python
from examples.research_core import size_spot_long, closed_buckets
# Integration sketch: both mappings come from validated account/venue state.
def proposed_quantity(account_and_venue_inputs):
    return size_spot_long(**account_and_venue_inputs)
def strategy_bars(available_five_minute_bars, decision_time):
    return closed_buckets(
        available_five_minute_bars,
        base_seconds=300, bucket_seconds=900, as_of=decision_time
    )
```

Define breach behavior explicitly: reject new entries, cancel only the intended entry orders, continue protecting existing positions, and latch the breach until the documented reset condition. Daily resets must use a known equity mark; an unknown account state holds entries. For swing positions, maintain protection overnight and through browser closure. Use exchange-native stops where supported, while recording acceptance and reconciling replacements; a local stop in a sleeping tab is insufficient for unattended trading.

If execution is added later, implement `INTENT → SENT → ACKNOWLEDGED → PARTIAL/FILLED/CANCELLED/REJECTED`, with `UNKNOWN` on ambiguous timeouts. A persisted client order identifier helps reconcile and suppress duplicate submissions; do not assume it grants universal exactly-once behavior. Kraken documents `cl_ord_id`, order deadlines and validation-only requests in its [Add Order API](https://docs.kraken.com/exchange/api-reference/spot-websocket-v2/add_order). Query state before resending after an uncertain response, and measure fill latency separately from acknowledgment latency.

Evaluate a cancel-on-disconnect mechanism carefully: Kraken's timer cancels **all account orders**, which can include protective orders, and does not close existing positions. It should not be enabled indiscriminately for swing exposure. Any use needs account isolation and a tested protection/recovery policy. [Kraken cancel-on-disconnect specification](https://docs.kraken.com/exchange/api-reference/spot-websocket-v2/cancel_after)

**Lightweight sentiment is feasible, but optional.** Begin with the existing RSS and keyword pipeline; the service already deduplicates news links and scores headlines. [News adapter][R27] The keyword scorer uses token membership and has no explicit negation or sarcasm handling. [Text preprocessing][R28] Its role should be a transparent baseline. Test texts such as “not bullish” and asset-symbol ambiguity before interpreting the score as directional evidence.

Store source publication time, first observation time and evaluation completion separately. Report sample age, publisher/author diversity, coverage and method. A newly computed aggregate over yesterday's headlines is not fresh breaking news. Deduplicate syndicated stories using canonical URLs plus normalized text hashes, cap a single author's contribution, and weight observations by age with an explicitly chosen half-life. Use separate decay settings for intraday and swing experiments. Never count an empty sample as neutral sentiment.

Upgrade to Jev classification for new unique text batches only if labeled sentiment checks and trading ablations justify it. Preserve raw score/distribution and the rubric version. Test relevance, negation, sarcastic headlines, promotional spam and injected instructions. Do not give source text access to order tools or account secrets. Treat positive/negative classification quality and predictive trading usefulness as separate experiments.

Compare three frozen variants: technical-only; technical plus keyword/RSS feature; technical plus Jev-classified feature. Start sentiment as an optional veto or bounded feature contribution, not a direct order generator. Count avoided losing trades **and** missed profitable trades, evaluate net effect after latency/costs, and include source-unavailable periods. A veto can hurt performance; label its benefit unproven until the tests support it.

Paid social ingestion and on-chain scoring should remain optional adapters. The existing on-chain interface requires owner-supplied provider and methodology fields. [On-chain adapter][R29] Transaction activity alone does not establish bullishness. There is no need to add a chain RPC integration to the first implementation phase. Historical sentiment availability and licensing/retention permissions must be checked for each chosen source; this review establishes neither historical coverage nor paid-account access.

**Cost and maintenance discipline.** Keep keyless venue data, a local database, the current frontend and a small collector as the initial architecture. Avoid a message broker, cloud time-series cluster or heavyweight model-serving stack until measured scale requires one. Set per-provider daily budgets, bounded pagination, refresh concurrency, retained-history limits and explicit fallback modes. Store secrets only in the service/operator configuration, never in frontend bundles or research exports.

TypeSafe's model page currently lists Jev 1.13 input at **$0.042 per million tokens**, with output tokens free. This is a dated provider claim, not a guaranteed future bill or account entitlement. [Current Jev model/pricing documentation](https://docs.typesafe.ai/models) A hypothetical 1,000-input-token call for four assets every five minutes over 30 days is `4 × 288 × 30 = 34,560` calls, or 34.56 million tokens: approximately **$1.45** for that inference alone. Every thirty seconds would be ten times as many calls, approximately **$14.52**. These estimates exclude paid social data, hosting, historical datasets, retries, longer prompts, taxes and trading fees. Log returned token usage; caching identical batches can lower demand, while large text samples can materially raise it. Actual quotas and API access remain unverified.

Archive source observations by policy rather than storing every message forever. Record code/config/schema/model versions in exports, use structured failure reason codes, and test dependency updates against replay fixtures. Prefer routine small updates over a stack migration. Make model upgrades explicit experiments with a rollback path; an alias change can alter results without any local code change.

**Implementation sequence and completion gates.** Effort estimates below are rough engineering estimates for one developer with access to the existing app; they exclude data-collection waiting time, procurement and any live rollout. They are a future work plan, not a request to keep this assignment running.

| Priority and estimate | Concrete work | Completion evidence |
|---|---|---|
| P0: semantics, 2–4 developer days | Extract strategy contracts; specify timeframe, bar finality and source availability; unify ATR; label technical-only versus sentiment strategies; rename parameter search. | Prefix-causality tests; complete-bar fixtures; matching ATR and decisions across chart/replay/core; missing-source behavior asserted. |
| P1: durable data, 3–5 days | Extend Kraken normalization with BBO; independent source refresh; persistent collector; archive importer and SHA-256 manifests; gap recovery. | Reconnect, duplicate, out-of-order, status, late-bar and timeout replays pass; collector resumes from checkpoint; unresolved gaps hold entries; measured latency report. |
| P2: research validity, 4–7 days | Source-component history; availability-aware replay; execution/cost scenarios; walk-forward evaluation; shared CLI; calibration diagnostics. | Offline replay is reproducible; data-leak probes fail as expected; same config reproduces browser decisions; fold reports include uncertainty and all candidates. |
| P3: paper account, 3–5 days | Ledger, cash/risk reservations, unified risk budgets, fill simulator, account restart recovery and latched limits. | Concurrent intents cannot overspend; costs reconcile; partial fills/cancels/unknown outcomes preserve invariants; overnight positions survive process restart. |
| P4: optional sentiment, 2–4 days | RSS quality tests; bounded Jev adapter with model pinning and cost accounting; separate keyword/Jev ablations. | Classifier labels and trading value evaluated separately; missing/late/malformed responses cannot create an entry; predeclared utility criterion met or feature stays off. |
| P5: execution, separately scoped | One venue, real owner configuration, reconciled orders, protection policy and operational monitoring. | Extended paper/shadow evidence, fault injection, venue precision/permission checks and an explicit owner decision to enable live orders. No deadline for proving profitability is promised. |

Suggested promotion criteria: zero known data-leakage or account-invariant failures; measured latency within the chosen budget; no dependence on unavailable future observations; stable net outcomes across several held-out periods; and calibration/utility better than the frozen baseline with uncertainty reported. If evidence is inconclusive, keep the simpler baseline. Deterministic test success is necessary for correctness, but does not certify predictive edge.

**Checks performed for this report.**

- Inspected the pinned source, including market transport, indicators, strategy evaluation, simulator, parameter search, risk, UI call sites, Python providers/store and dry-run execution template. The supplemental `evidence/review-manifest.json` records retrieved-file SHA-256 hashes and source URLs; hashes identify bytes, not correctness.
- Ran **48 existing pure TypeScript numerical/risk/alert tests: 48 passed** using Node 24.21.0 after stripping TypeScript types and resolving relative module extensions in disposable copies. This was not the repository's npm build or full test suite. React-dependent live transport tests, browser tests, full typechecking and the deployed interface were not executed.
- Ran targeted synthetic probes for ATR differences, partial aggregation, CSV gaps, missing-sentiment behavior, unchanged-account sizing and fixed-weight history. These validate the described mechanics, not market performance.
- Ran **9 offline standard-library Python tests: 9 passed** on the delivered sizing and complete-bar examples. Python snippets were parsed for syntax; the Jev HTTP example was not integration-tested. No third-party package installation is needed for the delivered checks.
- Checked Markdown structure, referenced local deliverables and citation syntax. Public documentation was read for the claims cited; external pages may later move. Findings and self-check results have no independent review authority.

**Uncertainty and unanswered questions.** None blocks this report; they govern subsequent implementation choices.

| Question | Why it matters | Current assumption or treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Which venue, instruments and jurisdiction are intended? Spot only, or derivatives? | Determines data permissions, fees, sizing and execution semantics. | Start with the repository's Kraken spot/USD path; no claim that every UI symbol is supported for the owner's account. |
| What are the desired signal and holding intervals? | Intraday and swing need different warmup, history, labels and risk horizons. | Treat five-/fifteen-minute and one-/four-hour profiles as separate proposed experiments. |
| Is this decision support, paper trading or unattended execution? | Browser lifecycle is acceptable for review, insufficient for overnight autonomous protection. | Prioritize research and a paper ledger. Live execution is a later explicitly enabled capability. |
| What data, source rights and budget are available? | Long history and historical sentiment cannot be inferred from a capped live endpoint. | Use import adapters and owner settings; do not manufacture historical observations or account access. |
| What account limits, fee tier and order-size constraints apply? | Determines feasible positions and realistic costs. | Require actual owner/venue inputs at runtime; examples are synthetic checks only. |
| What objective determines an acceptable improvement? | Accuracy, net expectancy, drawdown and trade frequency can conflict. | Predeclare cost-adjusted utility and drawdown constraints before evaluating the final holdout. |
| Will Jev improve this strategy on unseen data? | General typed-answer capability does not establish financial predictive power. | Unanswered. Measure labeled-text quality and forward trading ablations separately. |
