"On Monday night a request came in for something very human: a way to leave what you own to someone else. The swarm built it, had it checked and switched it on that same night. About half an hour later a second job finished its website, called Heirloom.",
"The idea is easy to follow. You open a safe, put something in it and name one heir. Every so often you press a button to say you are still around. You pick how long that can wait, from one day to ten years. If the time runs out without a check-in, your heir can claim what is inside. Until then you stay fully in charge and can take things out, change your heir or close the safe.",
"For now Heirloom runs on a practice network that uses play money, so anyone can try it without risk. It is a neat example of an old worry, 'what happens to my things if something happens to me?', answered by a team of computer helpers."
