# Fren Pet Costume Contest 2026 - Group 3 - Judge 2

Status: judged. I inspected the collage, the normal-pet reference and all seven entry crops.

## Observations
- **A** - Monkey pet wearing ornate gold-and-red horned dragon helmet, layered shoulder/chest armor and a tall tasseled golden staff; the monkey face and ears show through, reading as a Sun Wukong-style warrior. *Impression:* Rich, well-fitted, instantly legible; strong but slightly less transformative than F.
- **B** - Large dark knight helmet with a glowing red eye slit covers the head, with a small Hello Kitty-style face and red bow tucked on top; only feet/legs of the pet show. *Impression:* Fun contrast and a clean helmet, but a single main piece, no props, and fairly plain.
- **C** - White cap with leopard-spot pattern plus a katana with red wrapping held upright beside the head, reminiscent of Trafalgar Law; penguin body visible. *Impression:* Recognizable and cute with one prop, but small and simple.
- **D** - Purple hooded wizard/witch cloak with a glowing jack-o'-lantern pointed hat, skull clasp, floating skulls with purple flame and green ooze at the base; the pet is fully covered. *Impression:* Atmospheric and a full transformation; small and somewhat dark/murky at size, floating skulls act as props.
- **E** - Bob Ross figure: big brown afro, beard, denim shirt and jeans, holding a paintbrush/palette, with an easel showing a mountain-lake landscape beside it. *Impression:* Instantly recognizable, charming, with a true prop (easel) and coordinated pieces; very memorable.
- **F** - Black-and-gold horned samurai kabuto and armor, a flaming purple katana, a golden oni/mask at the hip, a shadow-fire spirit cat companion and a tail; the face peeks out of the helmet. *Impression:* Most elaborate: multi-piece armor, multiple props and companion, dramatic purple flame effects; clear wow factor.
- **G** - Large black-and-gold bicorne admiral hat with a cockade, a navy officer coat with gold trim and a brass spyglass in hand; the pet's blank face is visible between hat and coat. *Impression:* Neat, readable Napoleon/admiral costume with a prop, well-proportioned, but modest in scale and detail.

## Ranking (best to least preferred)
F > E > A > D > G > C > B

## 1st: F
The samurai is the most complete costume: kabuto, layered armor, flaming katana, golden mask and a spirit-cat companion all coordinate in black, gold and purple. It looks worn rather than just placed, and has the strongest wow factor.

## 2nd: E
Bob Ross is a witty, instantly readable idea executed cleanly: afro, beard, clothes, brush and a detailed landscape easel. It reads as the pet dressed up and is very memorable.

## 3rd: A
The Sun Wukong-style warrior has finely detailed ornate armor and helmet and a tall tasseled staff. The monkey face fits the character naturally, making it a strong, coherent costume.

## Uncertainty
F, E and A are close; E's charm and recognizability could reasonably edge past F or A. D, G, C and B are small details at collage size, so lower placements rest on crops. Character identifications (Sun Wukong, Bob Ross, Trafalgar Law, Napoleon) are my inference from visible design.
